Greg Minton
Managing Partner
Greg joined Archer Capital in October 2000, bringing operational and line management experience that is an integral component of the firm’s investment strategy. Since joining, Greg has co-led the investment programme, including both the Repco and Emeco deals from acquisition to exit. He also oversaw the Onesource and iNova Pharmaceuticals (formerly 3M Pharmaceuticals) acquisitions. He was also responsible for the management and exit of Hirequip. He is Chairman of iNova Pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Archer Capital, Greg spent six years in senior general management roles with CSR Limited. In his last role as General Manager Australasia of CSR Humes, a large manufacturer of precast concrete products, he had full operational and strategic responsibility for businesses with 1,000 employees and revenue of approximately $300 million. before his time at CSR, Greg worked with McKinsey & Company in Australia, Scandinavia and the UK.
Greg has a Master of Business Administration from IMD, Switzerland and a Bachelor of Engineering and a Bachelor of Economics, both from the University of Queensland.
Peter Wiggs
Managing Partner
Peter joined Archer Capital in 1997 and has managed the investment programme at Archer Capital since that date. He has led numerous transactions: Tasman Building Products, MCK, Signature Security, Banksia Wines, Hirequip, Tasman 2 and RED Paper Group. He is currently a director of Rebel/Amart, Cellarmasters and MYOB.
Peter is one of the longest-serving executives in the Australian private equity industry, having previously spent three years working as an executive in the private equity team at Rothschild Australia. During that time he was acting CEO of a portfolio company for 18 months, where he effected a major performance turnaround. Prior to is roles at Rothschild, Peter spent five years with Booz Allen & Hamilton, working on a variety of strategic and operational assignments for several large Australian companies in the healthcare, banking, insurance and consumer goods industries.
Peter has a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the University of Sydney.
James Carnegie
Partner
James joined Archer Capital in 2004. He co-led the Emeco acquisition and was a director of Emeco during its hold period. James also led the Cellarmaster Wines acquisition and is now Chairman of the Company.
Prior to joining Archer Capital, James was a Director of Macquarie Direct Investment Limited, the private equity division of Macquarie Bank. In his five years with Macquarie, he was on the boards of numerous portfolio companies, including Signature Security, Staging Connections and SMS Management and Technology. Before joining Macquarie, James worked for three years as a Funds Manager with the hedge fund Platinum Asset Management and previously worked in the Australian retail industry, primarily with Just Jeans.
James holds a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Melbourne University.
Peter Gold
Partner
Peter was a member of the original Archer Capital team established in 1997. Since that time he has been involved in all aspects of the business, including deal sourcing, deal execution and the management and realisation of investments. Peter led the acquisition and divestment of Dôme Coffees, and the acquisition of Rebel Sport, Amart All Sports, Rowe & Jarman, Onesource and Ausfuel. He has also had varying levels of involvement with MCK, Australian Geographic, Signature Security, Tasman and RED Paper. He is currently Chairman of Rebel/Amart and Ausfuel.
During his time at Archer Capital, Peter has gained operational experience whilst on secondment as Interim CEO of Metro Photos. Prior to that, Peter worked in the Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley in Melbourne and New York, providing advice on the structuring and execution of mergers and acquisitions and project financings. Before his time at Morgan Stanley, he worked as an actuarial analyst for Sedgwick Noble Lowndes.
Peter is qualified as an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.
Andrew Gray
Partner
Andrew Gray joined Archer Capital as a Partner in 2007. Before that he was a Partner with Francisco Partners, a private equity firm with US$5 billion in capital under management specializing in technology related buyouts. He headed their efforts in Europe and led numerous transactions, including Mincom Ltd, Aderant, CMAC, Ex Libris and more. From 1999 to 2002, Andrew founded and was the COO of Abilizer Solutions, Inc., a software firm specializing in J2EE platform infrastructure technologies. Prior to Abilizer, he spent several years as a private equity investor focused on generalist mid-market buyouts at Genstar Capital. Earlier in his career, Andrew was an investment banker with James D. Wolfensohn Inc. and a consultant with McKinsey & Co.
Andrew serves on the Board of Directors of MYOB, and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Aeronautical) with first class honors from The University of Sydney and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Justin Punch
Partner
Justin joined Archer Capital in 2001, further enhancing Archer Capital’s operational capabilities. Justin led the John West Foods deal from acquisition to exit and more recently the Paradise Foods deal from acquisition to exit.
Prior to his time at Archer Capital, Justin spent eight years with Simplot Australia, where he ran a number of divisions and held a number of management and operating roles. As Executive General Manager of the Retail Frozen Foods Division, Justin had operational and strategic responsibility for a business with revenues of $270 million and 200 employees. In this role and others he managed market-leading consumer brands, manufacturing, product development, marketing, planning and finance. Before Simplot, Justin worked for The Boston Consulting Group on a range of strategic and operational assignments.
Justin holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales.
Ben Frewin
Investment Director
Ben joined Archer Capital in 2004. Ben led the acquisition of iNova Pharmaceuticals in November 2006 and SULO in March 2005. He was part of the team that acquired Amart All Sports in August 2004 and he co-led the acquisition of Rowe & Jarman in September 2005. Ben is a director of iNova Pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Archer Capital, Ben worked in corporate development for three years at the Channel Ten television network. Ben also spent two years as an equity research analyst covering the Australian media sector for Macquarie Bank and five years with Price Waterhouse in audit and corporate finance.
Ben holds a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Adelaide and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Brad Lancken
Investment Director
Brad Lancken joined the Archer Capital team in early 2006 and has since worked on the acquisition of iNova Pharmaceuticals and the divestiture of OneSource Group. Prior to his time at Archer Capital, Brad managed channel and strategic development for the Net Return Group and, in earlier roles, he held senior operational positions in two start-up technology companies, Net Harbour and Mytek.
Brad holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and is a Patron of the Foundation for Young Australians, a national charity which commits over $3 million annually to youth focused initiatives.
Jeffrey Lim
Investment Director
Jeffrey Lim joined Archer Capital in 2006. He worked on the public to private acquisition of Rebel Sport which was completed in March 2007 and the aquisition of Ausfuel which was completed in May 2010. He is an Alternate Director on the Board of Ascendia Retail Pty Limited (holding company of Amart All Sports and Rebel Sports).
Prior to joining Archer, Jeffrey spent four years at Citigroup’s Investment Banking Division, where he worked as an Associate in Sydney, Hong Kong and Beijing on a range of mergers and acquisitions, and equity and debt transactions in the general industrials, chemical and mining industries. Before commencing with Citigroup, Jeffrey’s experience included working for Unilever Australasia in the Strategy and Evaluation Division (2001 – 2002), and at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in the Growth Solutions Division (1999 – 2000).
Jeffrey holds a Bachelor of Business degree (with Distinction) from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Craig Wood
Investment Director
Craig joined Archer Capital in 2004. In 2005, he worked on the acquisition of Onesource Group and, in 2006, led the bolt-on acquisitions of GDC NZ’s telephone business and Danka Australia and was involved in the Cellarmaster Wines acquisition in 2007. Most recently he worked on the acquisition of MYOB in 2009 where he remains a director.
He previously worked in investment banking with Lehman Brothers in New York. There, Craig was involved in a range of projects spanning mergers and acquisitions,equity and debt transactions and project finance. Craig started his career as an engineer with Clough Engineering’s Offshore Division.
Craig, a Rhodes Scholar, holds a Master of Science (Finance) from London Business School, a Bachelor of Arts from Oxford University and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) and Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Australia.
Sebastian Bielski
Investment Manager
Sebastian joined Archer in 2008. Prior to joining Archer, Sebastian spent four years in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs in the German Coverage Group in Frankfurt and in the Financial Institutions Group in Sydney. During that time he advised clients on a range of M&A and capital markets transactions. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs Sebastian gained experience working in two internet start-up companies.
Sebastian holds a Master of Science in Management from the Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL) and a Master of Business Administration from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management.
Owen Davis
Investment Manager
Owen joined Archer Capital in 2006. During this period Owen has been involved in the Cellarmaster Wines and MYOB.
Prior to joining Archer Capital, Owen was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company. In this role, he worked in Sydney, Tokyo and New York on a range of strategic and operational issues facing clients in the FMCG, construction and telecommunication industries. Owen began his career as an analyst with Macquarie Bank in infrastructure investment banking.
Owen holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney.
Frank Heckes
Investment Manager
Frank joined Archer capital in 2010. Previously, Frank was a Vice President in the London office of TPG Capital, a leading global private equity firm with over $45 billion of capital under management across a family of funds. During almost five years at the firm he variously led or supported analysis and execution of both equity and debt transactions across a wide range of industries and geographies, and shared responsibility for leading the firm's sourcing efforts in the UK, Ireland and pan-European energy segments.
Prior to TPG, Frank spent three-and-a-half years with Credit Suisse First Boston in London and Melbourne, where he advised on and executed numerous mergers, acquisitions and leveraged finance transactions.
Frank holds a Bachelor of Commerce (with Honours) and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Melbourne.
Michael Blickstead
Associate
Michael Blickstead joined Archer Capital in 2010. Prior to joining Archer, Michael spent three years in the Private Equity Group of Goldman Sachs in New York and London. During that time, he evaluated and executed direct company, secondary, and partnership investments across North America, Europe, and Asia. Michael is also Co-Founder and Chairman of Young Canadians in Finance and Co-Founder of the Council of Young Leaders for the United Nations Greater Tumen Initiative.
Michael holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude in Economics, from Harvard University.
Andrew Joyce
Associate
Andrew joined Archer Capital in 2010. Prior to joining, Andrew worked across corporate strategy and M&A at CSG Ltd, a rapidly expanding, ASX listed IT services firm. During his time at CSG the company grew substantially, approximately doubling revenue and profit, and seeing a five-fold increase in market capitalisation.
Andrew commenced his career at Bain & Company, where he spent two years working across the Melbourne and Sydney offices. During this time, Andrew worked for a number of clients across Telecommunications, Financial Services and Industrials, advising on corporate re-organisation, cost-cutting and business performance improvement.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the University of New South Wales.
Tom O’Mara
Associate
Tom O’Mara joined Archer Capital in 2008. He was involved in the acquisition of Ausfuel which was completed in May 2010. Previously, Tom was an Analyst in Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division. During his two years at Morgan Stanley, Tom worked on a variety of mergers and acquisitions and debt transactions in the utility, mining, energy and property industries. Before commencing at Morgan Stanley, Tom worked at KPMG Corporate Finance, where he was involved on a range of M&A and valuation consulting projects.
Tom is also a founder of The Melbourne Foundation, a charity funded by young professionals which provides scholarships to talented school children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Hons) from the University of Melbourne and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
David Bull
Chief Financial Officer
David joined Archer Capital in 2006 and brings with him over 13 years of experience in managing the finance and operations infrastructure of private equity firms. He spent the previous seven years in London with Henderson Private Capital where his responsibilities extended to investor relations and portfolio management. Prior to that, David was one of the first members of AMP's Private Investments team in Sydney, where he was involved in the establishment of AMP's pioneering institutional buyout and infrastructure funds, at the time the largest funds of their type.
David began his career with Price Waterhouse in Sydney and has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and a Graduate Diploma of Investment and Applied Finance. He is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.
